Audio Bible Studies (ABS)
As our correspondence ministry in Western Ukraine continues to grow, we have begun searching for ways to make the transition from a distance learning relationship with our students to something a little more personal. One of the ways this is being accomplished is through a new ministry which we call ABS (Audio Bible Studies). Every week at our Ministry Center in L'viv, we hold a one-hour Bible teaching session for our students. We have started in the Gospel of John and are teaching through it verse by verse. Every session is recorded, and is later made available in various audio formats, such as CD, MP3 and audio cassette.
What makes this ministry unique is that we are not only reaching those students who are able to attend the sessions live, but also those who cannot. As our collection of audio materials grows, we are able to mail CD's to people all over Ukraine. In addition, the Ukrainians themselves are already passing around the CD's to their friends.
Here are a couple of examples of the ways the Lord is blessing this exciting outreach. One of the first people to come to ABS was a lady named Olya. After the first meeting she was beaming with excitement about the things she had heard. She then told us that because of her irregular work schedule, she would only be able to come every other week. But because every ABS session is recorded, Olya never misses a lesson. She comes faithfully every other week, and then takes home the CD with the lesson she missed.
Another lady named Yevah lives too far away to come regularly. But whenever she is in town, she stops by to pick up more CD's so she can listen at home. She has told us that she is also giving them to her friends.
